If we’re to meet ambitious Net-Zero targets to protect our planet, then we all have a collective responsibility to do something about it. And the good news is that we can all make some small changes to our daily lives that will help save energy and, thus, protect the planet from human-induced climate change. Here are six things you can do to make a positive contribution to the future of the planet.

1.      Try Meatless Monday

Did you know that meat accounts for nearly 60% of all greenhouse gases from food production? Methane released by cows and the practice of deforestation to pave the way for more meat and dairy farms is having a catastrophic impact on the planet. The planet is in danger, and it’s time to take action. The insatiable need for meat production has created a major problem on Earth as cows are releasing methane gas which causes more climate change than any other type of animal product!

A huge problem with this world today has got be its environment—and I don’t just mean things like air pollution (although those definitely matter too).

But one way you can help save energy is by introducing meatless Monday to your family. An entire movement has grown as a result of meatless Monday, and it’s an easy and effective way to reduce your carbon footprint. A great thing about this idea? You don’t have do anything other than just start eating more vegetables every single day – which we know is really difficult sometimes when all of these delicious food options seem so close together on the menu or at home during dinner time…but not anymore because now there will always be “veggie night” waiting patiently underneath those options.

2.      Carpool

According to Ride Share, the United States alone could save 33 million gallons of gas every day if the average commuting vehicle carried one additional person. What’s more, the average passenger car emits 10,000 pounds of carbon dioxide into the air, which is having a devastating impact on climate change.

The simple act of carpooling with family members or work colleagues can greatly reduce some of these numbers and will save you money in the process. It’s super simple to set up a carpooling rota, too, and it will contribute positively to the health of our planet. Carpooling is a great way to save money and reduce pollution! Setting up your own rota will help the environment too. Carpooling isn’t just about saving some coins on gas; it’s also good for our localized climate since we all share one car instead of multiple vehicles in order to travel throughout the day – this helps cut down carbon emissions significantly when compared with flying or taking separate cars individually (not forgetting how much easier commuting can be).

3.      Unplug Your Devices

Statistics from the NRDC revealed that 23% of the energy used in the average American household is ‘idle load electricity,’ which comes as a result of families leaving devices plugged in and charging when they don’t need to be hooked up to the electricity. This isn’t a problem limited to any one person, either—it affects everyone in the house!

The simple act of unplugging your devices and being more mindful about the electricity that you consume will reduce your carbon footprint and save you hundreds of dollars a year. Making the simple switch to an all-electric or solar power household will also save you hundreds. The act of unplugging our devices from time-to -time is not just good for our electric bill, it’s also important in helping us live healthier lives by reducing stress created from constantly being plugged into constant WiFi access as well providing some peace when we’re trying to snuggle up at night with family members who may be using electronics too much!

4.      Switch to Low-Impact Laundry

The most energy-intensive appliances in your home are usually the ones you don’t see. The average clothes dryer consumes as much power per year than an entire kitchen setup, and it doesn’t even remotely qualify for recognition with its small size! You might be surprised at how many other things can run down our electricity bill if we’re not careful about watching what kind of electric company we choose to provide coverage from – just remember that there’s no such thing as “energy efficient” when talking about these types of devices because they always need more juice than normal homes do (and who has enough?). Clothes washers and dryers are some of the most energy-intensive appliances that exist in most American homes. In fact, most clothes dryers consume the same amount of energy as a dishwasher, refrigerator, and clothes washer combined.

We all know that the clothes dryer is an energy guzzling machine, but did you also realize how much it can damage your clothes? The chemicals found in most detergents are not good for humans or earth. To get around this problem try using natural ways such as hang-drying instead of putting them through another cycle on their own! Not only will these methods save money by reducing utility bills – but they’ll be also far cheaper over time because there won’t need replacing any heating systems either (which often become inefficient after years).

As a result, consider ditching the clothes dryer altogether and dry your clothes naturally. What’s more, switch to environmentally friendly soaps, wash only full loads, and wash your clothes in cooler water. All of these combine to contribute to significant home energy savings and are much better for the planet.

5.      Upgrade Your Light Bulbs

If you have incandescent bulbs burning in your home’s light fittings, it’s a good idea to replace them with LED or CFL bulbs. And while LED bulbs are typically more expensive than standard light bulbs, they last up to five times longer and emit very little heat. It’s easy to go through your day without even realizing how much lighting impacts our lives. The right light can make all the difference between a stressful morning and one where you feel calm, focused on what matters most in life—and that includes seeing too!

In contrast, incandescent bulbs emit around 80-90% of their energy in heat, which raises your electricity bills and results in the burning of more fossil fuels. Spend an hour or so switching your light bulbs, and you will be amazed at the long-term energy savings you will enjoy as a result.

6.      Use Energy Efficient Windows

The economic importance of installing energy efficient windows cannot be Underestimated. The age-old debate between cheap and expensive is a consistent theme in today’s world, but with energy efficient windows there exists an option for those who want the best of both worlds. In a world where our energy consumption affects not only the environment but also people’s living standards, it is imperative that we think about how each decision impacts both aspects. With recent research showing that heating and cooling accounts for the most significant energy use in individual-family homes.

The benefits that come from investing into these new lightweight materials make them worth every penny!  For example, they save on heating costs by keeping your home warm during winter months without using any gas heaters or electric blankets like many people do now days because it’s just too cold outside – then you’ll have more money saved up so when summertime comes around again everyone can enjoy being comfortable inside their homes rather than spending all day long outside trying not get bored.

With the changes in weather and energy, it is more important than ever to make your home as efficient of a place for you. One way that this can happen is using Energy-efficient windows! They’ll save money both now and down the line by making sure all those watts go somewhere useful – like keeping warm or cool air inside (or out!). Installation of energy efficient windows is important not only for the environment, but also our wallets. These types of window replacements can help reduce your home’s cooling and heating needs by up to 20%!
